It wasn’t until I was flicking through this months Vogue that I noticed the resemblance…if he was a cross dresser that is. Hoping to do a few of these, I have a cunning plan in mind! Mwahahahahaha!

Looking for something to do, I bought these fabulous blocks off of etsy. I was going to do a standard village but then I thought i’d have a go at doing some high fashion Paris stores. I’m happy with how they’ve turned out but not entirely. I worry that maybe they’re a little too twee. But anyway, its up to you what you make of them. They are available on my Etsy shop.

Also, there’s a whimsical new item over on the WelshRare-BitsCo. Head over and check out Owen Tudor, the new addition!

Shoe art

DSCN1176 DSCN1177 DSCN1179

I’m nothing if not ambitious and my great goal in life has been to be draw on a pair of shoes!! In all seriousness though, i do love looking up shoe art and think its brilliant some of the truly unique designs people have done. I was very graciously given these by my partner to potter about with. I’m actually really pleased with them and like the fact that they look drawn and not merely transfer design.

Hmmmmm, badger

ImageImageImageThese were some pieces I sent into Make-Away in Brighton. Their opening a pop-up shop for a month as of the 3rd November. My work wasn’t chosen which is always slightly disheartening but I still really like these and thought they might make quite cool screen prints for a tote bag or something. They were only for one colour so I wasn’t entirely sure how I should go about the design. I really love the badger, I know its somewhat simplistic but I thought it was quite relevant what with everything with the badger cull going on. It applied to the fact that the government are back peddling on it due to the massive amount its going to cost – £4 million to be exact. The other piece is a clearer look at one of the designs I did on one of my dolls. An extension of the Miscellaneous Sideshow. The last one is pretty self-explanatory, I think I’ve pressed how much I love hand drawn lettering. Maybe this wouldn’t appeal to everyone because its not obviously Christmassy, but I adore its Burtonesque style.

Sketchbook Covers

Whenever I start a new sketchbook, doesn’t matter whats its for, I always label them in some way. Now this may sound twee but it gets me in the right frame of mind for some reason to get on and do something. I love typography and so this is why i enjoy the process so much of designing the front cover of my sketchbook. Here are a few I’ve done for university. Bits&Bobs, Research and Development. I don’t know if anyone else feels like this but when i create a sketchbook, every little thing is an idea that has been developed. I struggled a fair bit with this in uni because they wanted it to be clearly documented in stages but thats not how I work unfortunately. Even the lettering I do on my front covers contribute in some way to the final outcome.
