Sketchbook Covers

Whenever I start a new sketchbook, doesn’t matter whats its for, I always label them in some way. Now this may sound twee but it gets me in the right frame of mind for some reason to get on and do something. I love typography and so this is why i enjoy the process so much of designing the front cover of my sketchbook. Here are a few I’ve done for university. Bits&Bobs, Research and Development. I don’t know if anyone else feels like this but when i create a sketchbook, every little thing is an idea that has been developed. I struggled a fair bit with this in uni because they wanted it to be clearly documented in stages but thats not how I work unfortunately. Even the lettering I do on my front covers contribute in some way to the final outcome.

Have a Seat…

These chairs are something I’ve been doing over the past few days. I’m full of cold so couldn’t quite get my head into gear for any drawing so I took some time out to paint some brightly coloured chairs. Well…they cheered me up anyway! x

Poppy’s version of a Russian Doll

Hellooo! sorry I haven’t updated in a while, been busy doing work and building up my portfolio. This work is not part of that, rather its what my niece and I get up to when she spends the day up with us. She’s 3 but I absolutely adore her work here, so I thought id share it with you. She could have the potential to be the next Grayson Perry…hmmm? Did have a bit of quarrel over the colour black though, it was almost like that sketch out of The Fast Show.
